The best table in L.A. is a chairlift away

  1. Park at the base

Leave the car at the Mt Baldy Resort lot, 8401 Mt Baldy Rd, about an hour from downtown L.A.

  2. Ride Chair 1, Sugar Pine

A quiet 20-minute ride from 6,400 to 7,800 feet. Scenic lift tickets are sold at the base and online.

  3. Grab a seat on the deck

Order at the counter, take your buzzer, and find a spot in the sun or by the fire.

Rather earn it? In summer and fall you can hike up the Mt Baldy fire road and ride the lift back down. Riders must be at least 40" tall. Plan your visit

“Another winter day at Top of the Notch did not disappoint. We enjoyed lunch in between runs on the mountain - Two Bacon Blue Cheeseburgers with Fry Baskets and two Fire Break Irish Reds! The service was outstanding, the restaurant was cozy and clean and the views were, of course, AMAZING.”

“Best kept secret in LA. Went hiking on a Friday morning up the Mt Baldy trailhead, hung around until Top of the Notch opened for lunch and had beer and fries overlooking the valley. It was gorgeous, tasty, and easy parking because it was a Friday. The staff were super friendly.”

“The true beauty of altitude is attitude and with the family of Mt Baldy it’s inspiring. A 17 minute ride takes you from 6400 ft to 7800ft with great food and views from Catalina to the lower Sierra’s to Mt Charleston above Vegas. Winter or Summer find a better attitude with some altitude!”

“2026 Mt Baldy Moonlight Hikes. One of the best hikes I’ve done. Music at the top with a beer was the best. Everyone all ages happy and dancing to the music definitely a must while in So Cal.”
